BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The 2026 Summer Games of Texas are coming back to the Brazos Valley, and organizers say families across the state should start planning now.
The Games of Texas — the premier amateur sporting event in Texas — will return to sports venues in Bryan and College Station from July 30 through August 2. The event is hosted by the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, known as TAAF, and features 11 sports spread across facilities in both cities and on the Texas A&M University campus.
“It’s very rewarding for us to put it on,” said Tourism Supervisor Samantha Holland, with the City of College Station. “It’s very fun to see all the people coming into town, showcasing what fantastic facilities are between both Bryan, College Station, and A&M’s campus.”
The Olympic-style competition is open to youth and some adult athletes across Texas. Most sports are open registration — athletes can sign up at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s website to compete at the state championship level. However, high-volume sports like swimming and track and field require athletes to qualify through one of 17 regional meets held across the state.
Registration deadlines fall between mid-July and late July, depending on the event, so organizers urge interested athletes to sign up soon.
Recreation Supervisor Matt Minahan, with the City of Bryan, credited the collaboration between both cities and Texas A&M as the backbone of the event.
“We couldn’t do it without the university, without Bryan and College Station in terms of financial commitment, our great facilities, and staffing,” he said.
