Social Market Foundation (SMF) research suggests that adult gaming centres (AGCs) are over six times more common in socially deprived areas.

The 15 most deprived local authorities in England had 111 AGCs between them, while the 15 least deprived authorities had a combined total of just 11.

AGCs generate 100% of revenue from category B electronic gaming machines (EGMs), and would be hit hard if the latest policy paper from the SMF came to fruition.

The proposals were penned by Richard Hyde and Gideon Salutin in a new report entitled: Addressing the Harm: The many arguments for raising Machine Games Duty on Category B machines.
