OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – June 13, 2019, marked the day a Major League Baseball game was played in Omaha.
The matchup between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers at TD Ameritrade Park kicked off that year’s College World Series.
A year later, Omaha was set to host Major League Baseball’s draft, but the pandemic canceled that plan.
The Royals won the game 7-3 with the help of Nicky Lopez’s first major league home run in Omaha, where he played college ball at Creighton.
