There has been a growing collective want for The Simpsons Hit & Run to make its grand return. Whether it happens is another matter, but word on the street is that a remake is indeed in the works.
While discussing the freshly announced Spyro: A Realm Beyond, VGC’s Jordan Middler, speaking on the publication’s podcast, goes on to talk about Activision, and teases a project he knows is in the works.
“I think Activision’s next step, and they’re doing this with one very significant one, is to try and bring back some of that licensed stuff, like make new versions of those licensed games,” he says. “The one that everyone’s absolutely desperate for is happening.”
While he doesn’t say the game’s name directly, many are interpreting this to mean Hit & Run, as it best fits the bill as a major licensed Activision title that people are clamouring for.
The open world Simpsons action adventure is a beloved title for many, and there has been quite a lot of back and forth recently on whether we might see it come back in a remake of some kind.
It seems Middler thinks it’s coming, and we also know that the original developer has reemerged as New Radical Games, which is possibly related.
More recently, The Simpsons showrunner acknowledges the desire for Hit & Run to come back.
I think there are just about enough rumours and clues that I can believe the game is returning in some way, but I’d totally understand if you’re yet to be convinced. It’s all very bitty, isn’t it?
Anyway, here’s hoping. Would you like a remaster/remake of The Simpsons Hit & Run? Tell us in the comments section below.
