As we all know, most Call of Duty games pre-2019 are still being sold on Steam despite hackers being able to literally take over your computer through the game. I tried contacting the Better Business Bureau about this and it fell on deaf ears (for some reason they thought I was talking about account selling even though I never ever mentioned anything like that). Does anyone know of any other routes to get this fixed or atleast get attention on it? The games should not be sold in their current state when they’re essentially malware. In my opinion Activision needs to do one of 3 things:
- Stop the sale of the games entirely on Steam (this is the worst case for me. I love this franchise and would hate to see them take the lazy route, but I’m being realistic.)
- Patch out the always online components (like BO1, BO2, and MW Remastered) and officially shut down the multiplayer for these dangerous games.
- Patch the damn game to be safe again (obviously the option most of us want).
No one is expecting infinite support for these old titles, and I expect to run into hackers while playing older titles. What’s unacceptable is that you’re not just getting a hacker ruining your game, you’re getting someone who can steal all your real-life information and nuke your computer. I’m posting this because I’m at a loss for what to do now. Something’s gotta change. Innocent people who just want a nostalgia trip are unknowingly running what amounts to malware, and neither Activision nor Valve seem to care at all. Sorry if this comes off as a rant, but it makes me sad that these iconic games have been left in this state. Anyone have any ideas?
