I literally just got home after a nice Saturday lunch with family, and as always in the evenings I restart once a day. And…oh crap.
And it's a fucking AsRock motherboard with a Ryzen 7700X… 🙁
I will be trying the following and reporting the results here. I know the Dram lights automatically go on if the CPU light is on, so gotta go sequentially. Have to tear down the table and wiring first. Wish me luck…
- Reset BIOS
UPDATE 1: IT'S ALIIIIIIIVE AFTER SHORTING THE CMOS PINS. THANK THE PC GODS!!@#&
Update 2: Could set every BIOS setting back to before except Expo, which is apparently causing the hang up. What's weird is, why out of nowhere? Turns out I'm several BIOs versions behind and one chipset update behind and the BIOS patch notes said "optimized memory" stuff so maybe that'll allow me to enable expo again.
Update 3: Updated BIOS and drivers to the latest version, enabled EXPO and prayed for everything to work upon restarting. And it did!! Well, I guess ultimately something silly must have happened between the old BIOS and some drivers and whatnot, and a clean install of them fixes it who could have thought?!
Finally, I can sleep in tonight in peace :')
Update 4: Okay, I will run a mem test and see once and for all if the used RAM I bought back in December are already failing. BRB.
2. Reseat CPU
3. Try to boot with 1 stick of ram at a time
That's all I can try. You know what makes it worse? The CPU and RAM are used from eBay. I put together the whole thing last December. Please god please let it just be a BIOS bug or sth. Fuuu
