Ingrid is to join Street Fighter 6 on May 28, 2026. She’s the final character to join the roster for Season 3.

Capcom released the Avatar Arcade and Random Avatar Matches trailer in preparation for Ingrid’s arrival in Street Fighter 6. During this trailer, we saw what appeared to be a battle against an EX Boss version of Ingrid against the player avatar.

Ultimately, the avatar ended up losing the battle against Ingrid. The match was concluded with Ingrid performing an attack that was not seen in her initial gameplay trailer.

It’s possible that this could be Ingrid’s Critical Art, an upgraded version of her level 3 super art. Though her vitality hadn’t fallen to 25% during the trailer, it’s reasonable to think that the boss version of characters in Street Fighter 6 simply always use their Critical Arts instead of their level 3 super arts.

Alternatively, this could be a technique that’s exclusive to the EX Boss version of Ingrid. In fact, it is believed that this move is taking inspiration from Ingrid’s lost to time Sun Octopus that was originally intended to appear in Capcom Fighting All-Stars.

Funnily enough, Capcom Fighting All-Stars was intended to feature “finishing moves” that were similar to Mortal Kombat’s Fatality system in nature, but without the excessive gore. Sun Octopus was supposed to be Ingrid’s finisher.

Of course, it’s worth highlighting that the inputs required to perform the Sun Octopus were completely absurd. Going by a numbered notation for directional inputs, the player was required to press 8, 4, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 5, 2 then light punch to perform the technique.

Though Ingrid would eventually appear in Capcom Fighting Evolution and a few other fighting games after the cancelation of Capcom Fighting All-Stars, the concept of Sun Octopus ceased to exist.

According to Takayuki Nakayama, Sun Octopus was originally intended to feature a scene in which Ingrid would “split into three clones and performs a devastating Izuna Otoshi suplex.”

This description feels apt to what is seen in the trailer as Ingrid ultimately splits off into three separate clones to perform a flashy finisher. As her legs jut out of the spinning light spectacle, it really does appear like an eight-legged octopus.

Regardless, it’s worth highlighting that there does not appear to be any mention of “Sun Octopus” in Ingrid’s move list. Check it all out below:
