There are a variety of different input devices that can be used when playing fighting games. Some are better than others, but it mostly just boils down to preference. For me personally, I use the arcade stick when playing Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.
Of course, there are also peripheral devices that are used as a joke. There was that time someone made a noticeable impact at a fighting game tournament using a steering wheel, which suggests that there was actually some merit in using that sort of input device all along.
However, it would seem that Justin Wong was recently sent a Skittles flute. It’s interesting that this flute also doubles as an input device that can be used for games like Street Fighter 6.
While showcasing the Skittles flute input device, Wong describes the act of winning a match with this control scheme as the hardest challenge he’s ever attempted. By the end of his session, his hands were starting to go numb from the difficulty of doing practically anything in game.
To move, he has to tilt the flute in specific directions. Any attacks require him to blow into the flute, which naturally produces musical notes. Due to all of this, Wong decides to use E. Honda with Modern Controls due to the simplicity of the combination.
At first, Wong attempts to take on other Master ranked players in ranked mode, but he just ends up basically losing every match with him trapped in the corner. Eventually, he decides to take on less experienced players in order to have a chance at winning.
