Hotta Studio, a subsidiary of Perfect World Games previously known for 2022’s Tower of Fantasy, has an ambitious roadmap in mind for Neverness to Everness, and the team isn’t treating the recent launch on PC, PS5, Android, and iOS as the finish line.

Set in the supernatural metropolis of Hethereau, the urban open world RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced with path tracing on PC is built around a simple but unusually broad fantasy: live in the city, explore its anomalies, fight when you need to, and fill the gaps between major story beats with the kind of everyday life sim details that help the world feel alive. That approach is already starting to take shape in post-launch support, with Perfect World Games recently rolling out the first time-limited board, Misty Tipsy Style, and introducing the new S-class character Hotori alongside fresh cosmetics and limited rewards.

In this exclusive interview with Wccftech, Hotta Studio hints at where it wants to take NTE next. The short version is that the studio plans to keep expanding Hethereau with new city districts, anomaly zones, gameplay systems, and main story chapters, while also teasing future travel to other cities and regions. It is a vision built around steady growth rather than a single content drop, and that applies to both world design and player support, from co-op and housing to performance optimization and platform availability, with the developers evaluating potential ports to other consoles.

If the team can deliver on that roadmap, Neverness to Everness could become more than just another gacha release and evolve into a long-running urban sandbox that keeps layering new things to do long after launch.

What is your main vision for the future of the game after launch, and where do you plan to take it?

Our core philosophy is to continuously deliver high-quality, player-centric content. Built around a supernatural urban open world, NTE will keep expanding its world depth, bringing fresh exploration, story, and gameplay experiences to players, aiming to become a long-lasting companion for everyone.

Will there be map expansions, new locations, and major gameplay additions in future updates?

Yes. We have a full long-term roadmap. We will keep launching new city districts, anomaly areas, major gameplay modes, and main story chapters, so that Hethereau continues to grow and always feels fresh and worth exploring.

Will there be an airport, or will there be the ability to travel to other cities/regions?

Specific details are still under wraps. We plan to gradually unlock exploration of other cities and regions through diverse map elements, making the overall world map even grander.

Will the game launch on Steam and/or the Epic Games Store? What about Nintendo Switch 2 and/or Xbox? Are you planning to support cloud gaming platforms like GeForce Now?

We’re aiming for a global release. Following PC, Steam, PlayStation 5 and mobile, other console platforms are under evaluation. GeForce Now will be supported in the open beta version. We want as many players to enjoy NTE as conveniently as possible.

What is the core selling point that sets Neverness to Everness apart from other gacha games? What is the main “hook”?

The greatest charm of NTE is its living, breathing supernatural metropolis. We blend open-world exploration, satisfying action combat, and urban life simulation. Players can explore, fight, buy homes, customize vehicles, and socialize — all for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.

Highly freeform urban exploration, anomaly action combat, and immersive daily life are key parts of the game. Roam freely in a vibrant city, uncover the truth behind supernatural incidents, and enjoy your own urban lifestyle. That is the core vision we want to deliver.

How will character power, team building, element mechanics, and reactions work?

We emphasize both strategy and balance. Ether Linkage and character roles are designed around anomaly combat, encouraging diverse team setups rather than forcing a single dominant meta. We will keep adjusting based on real combat data to ensure rich and fair combat experiences.

What traversal options are there in Neverness to Everness beyond bikes and cars?

In addition to vehicles, players can use sliding, climbing, fast travel, subways, elevators, and other urban transport systems for smooth, free traversal in this vertical city.

How advanced will the relationship system be?

The aim is to create heartfelt bonding experiences for players, by including exclusive stories, hangout events, daily interactions, and high-quality voice talent. Each character will feel alive and form genuine connections with players.

Will there be a focus on co-op so players can enjoy the open world with friends?

We take multiplayer experiences seriously. The game supports coop exploration, dungeon collaboration, shared sightseeing, apartment interactions, and more. We will keep expanding fun, casual social content so players can enjoy the city together with friends.

Will players be able to purchase different types of apartments or homes in the city?

Yes. The game offers multiple apartment styles with full customization. Players can decorate their own personal space — a key part of urban life in NTE.

How quickly will the Neverness to Everness team respond to player feedback, and are you willing to change core systems in response? What will your communication style with the community look like?

We value and respond quickly to player feedback by maintaining transparent communication through official communities, surveys, developer logs, and other channels. For reasonable suggestions, we will actively refine the experience and keep improving the game.

Will the game continue to support lower-spec devices as hardware requirements evolve with updates?

Definitely. We will keep optimizing performance and lowering barriers to entry so that midrange and cost-effective devices can run NTE smoothly and stably with full content access.

Is the game enhanced for PS5 Pro? If so, can you share the specifics?

We plan to fully support next-gen high-performance consoles. We will provide enhanced graphics, higher frame rates, improved ray tracing, and richer visual effects for PS5 Pro to offer flagship console experiences.

Thank you for your time.
