What we like about this ASUS ROG Strix 27-inch gaming monitor
Top-end refresh rate for fast-paced and competitive gaming
At 360Hz, this is one of the highest refresh rates you can get for a 1440p monitor, making it ideal for those who want to use this for competitive gaming. For first-person shooters, it’s a game-changer.
FreeSync Premium Pro puts this monitor into the top-end
This is the highest level of FreeSync you can get, and pretty much reserved for the best gaming monitors on the market. It reduces screen tearing, provides low framerate compensation, and enhances HDR gaming performance, too.
An impressive QD-OLED display
This is one of the better QD-OLED screens you can get, coming in with a 1.5M:1 contrast ratio, 99% DCI-P3 color, and 1000 nits peak brightness. It’s earned a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 rating, too, which is a very good sign that it delivers the goods across the board.
Sweet spot sizing
It’s hard to beat 1440p, 27-inch gaming monitors, as at this size it really makes the most out of the resolution, without you needing to spend more on a 4K display, or 4K-ready gaming rig. When they’re on sale, it’s an even bigger win.
Stylish ASUS ROG design makes a statement
With these monitors, you’re getting a futuristic, Cyberpunk-like aesthetic that makes for a real statement in any setup. It’s practical, too, featuring clever design features like its smaller footstand and smartphone holder socket.
Should you go for this deal?
Personally, I’d say that this is a very good deal to jump on if you’re looking for premium quality for less of a premium price tag. ASUS ROG Strix monitors are some of the most expensive you can get, but they’re also some of the most impressive from a performance and design perspective. This is a good opportunity to grab one for a fair whack less than its original price, which I’d call a big win.
I would say that this monitor should only really be paired with very high-end 1440p gaming builds, so you can make the most out of its picture quality playing at max settings with HDR, and its high refresh rate. You can get a much cheaper and similar picture quality if you drop the refresh rate down to 240Hz. This MSI monitor I found recently would be a strong alternative, in my opinion.
