Alex became the third DLC character of Season 3 for Street Fighter 6 on March 17, 2026. He came packaged alongside a balance patch that provided adjustments to every combatant already present in the game.
It can be argued that the meta only shifted a little bit due to the recent update, but it’s still not entirely clear just how strong of a character Alex is just yet. SF6 High Level Replays has posted a number of videos featuring the newest addition being piloted by some of the top players of the scene.
Nowar is currently the highest ranked Alex user in the ranked mode with a Master Rating that’s over 2,200. His opponent in his video is the second highest ranked Ryu, Yas.
Problem X, a player most famous for his Evo 2018 victory at the Street Fighter 5 tournament held at that event, is also putting some time into Alex. He ends up going against EndingWalker’s Ryu, one of the players that first demonstrated that Ryu was better than initial impressions at the time.
Finally, there are matches featuring Itazan playing Alex. Itazan is known for being a grappler specialist that can make even low tiers look terrifying. Tokido attempts to take him on as the second best ranked JP in ranked.
Of course, we probably won’t get the full scope of Alex’s potential until tournaments start up again. However, watching footage of these players using Alex can go a long way in teaching those with less experience on what to do with the character.
