I’m in Japan and I searched for a good 2TB/4TB deal, prices are gone up here as well of course but there was still some viable options here and there.
I checked all Akihabara’s hardware temples and found these:
4TB:
– WD Black SN850X 4TB for 508$.
– Crucial T500 4TB also for 508$.
– Crucial P310 4TB for 418$.
2TB:
– Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB (Gen 5) for 346$.
– Crucial T500 2TB with heatsink for 263$.
– Lexar NM790 2TB for 230$.
After seeing these options and realizing the price jump to 4TB isn't that huge, I decided to aim for a solid 4TB deal. I ended up finding the Seagate FireCuda 530R 4TB (with heatsink) for $410 and pulled the trigger.
I seriously debated the Samsung 9100 PRO for Gen 5 future-proofing, but Gen 5 speeds aren't relevant for my current board anyway. Plus, it runs much hotter, and I'd be sacrificing half the storage capacity.
Japan truly is a paradise for hardware lovers. I'm sure the prices were even better before the whole AI boom, but it's still an absolute joy just walking around and geeking out over everything.
Thoughts? Did I make the right call?
