Desktop Idle games are becoming increasingly popular on steam. Bongo Cat put the format on the map. Tap Tap Loot pushed it further. Your computer is already open, your hands are already on the keyboard. What if something grew from that?

MilkwayStudio, a small Chinese indie studio, publisher XD and co-publisher Irox Games answer that question with a farm.

Typing Farmer is out today for $4.99 / €4.99, discounted 10 percent for the first two weeks. Type an email, write a report, do anything at your desk, and crops grow in a corner of your screen. Enough of a harvest and animals start wandering in. You do not manage the farm so much as inhabit it.

More than just crops

Alongside the farm sits a Pomodoro timer and a to-do list. The crops give you something to tend. The tools give you a reason to stay. You start with carrots and work your way up to lotuses, name your animals, and slowly make the farm look like yours. It is a corner of your screen that actually earns its space.

The full release adds a lot over the demo: online multiplayer, a complete Collection system, an Order system, Simple Mode, customizable key bindings and Steam Cloud saves. Demo players carry over unlocked animals and part of their in-game currency. Decorations, Statistics and Crop progress starts fresh due to structural changes in the save system.

After Tap Tap Loot’s combat loops and loot drops, Typing Farmer is the one that just asks you to sit down and work.

Relaxing feel good vibes from a typing game is a rare find, so get your little farm running today!
