It’s the weekend, and that means another weekly video digest from the devs of EverQuest Legends. This time around, the team is taking curious fans on a tour of the MMORPG’s item merging system, and by all accounts, it’s pretty straightforward stuff.
Item merging literally does what it says on the tin by letting players merge items of the same type to power up their chosen piece of kit. Each piece of armor has a maximum of 10 levels that can be gained in this way, with successive levels improving the item’s armor class and specific stats along the way.
The video primarily keeps to the starter desert of Ro as it showcases how items are merged, noting that even in a lowbie area, grinding for better gear is possible. That said, it does look like it will take a lot to max out an item through merging; the ring used as the example piece required some other items that were already ramped up by merging to hit the highest mark. Still, it is at least technically feasible as seen in the video below.
