Hello! So I’m writing to y’all to see if you have any insight on a direct X error while playing COD.

RAM: So I’m running my 48gb Hynix M kit with Buildzoids same timings he did for a 48gb Kingbank kit (same as mine). Tested with multiple rounds of TM5 anta extreme and no errors. Thermals are great, 40-43c while stress testing and gaming.

CPU: 9950x3d with PBO +175mhz, 7x scalar, curve optimizer per core undervolt. A couple of months ago I did lots of testing with core cycler to dial in my undervolt. Worked great for months, decided to try and lower some of my undervolts even further. Nothing much, like -2 to -5 more. Passed core cycler’s y-cruncher Komari AM5 test 1x through. Didn’t do as rigorous of stability testing since I only added a slight bit more UV (I know that’s not full proof logic). Thermals are great.

GPU: 5090 astral OC with mild UV and +3000 to mem. Runs great, thermals are great on the die and the vram.

So a few weeks back I got 3 direct X errors while playing COD, each time I’d load back in and it would happen within minutes of playing. I reverted my GPU back to stock first and tried again with no success, same error. Next I tried my memory at a previously stable mild memory OC and that seemed to do the trick, no errors until yesterday. A single direct X error, loaded back in and played for another 20-30 min with no error. I’m running on a hyte y70 riser cable (gen 4) and it’s set to auto in bios so it’s running at gen 5 speeds. I noticed a pci express error in HWinfo, it was receiver and it was red. I’ve seen non-fatal errors like recovery errors but my understanding is that those are fairly normal with riser cables and just running at gen 5 speeds in general.

So what’s changed since the last time I had those 3 errors is I’ve put a fairly aggressive OC on my memory and I’ve slightly lowered my CPU undervolt. I don’t think it’s the GPU OC. So my gut says it’s RAM or CPU instability, or it’s because I’m running at gen 5 and it just shit the bed and gave me a red receiver error and I just need to run gen 4 in the bios. That’s a lot to read but any insight would be appreciated (attached are my timings as well).
