This is the type of PC that’s going to be very well suited for those looking for hybrid gaming and workstation performance. If you’re a content creator, this is going to be a winner, and since it features an older 14th-gen CPU, it’s also a bit more cost-effective than opting for your typical RTX 5070 Ti, Intel Core Ultra 7-265K alternative.
What we like about this Stormcraft Phantom gaming PC
Powerful graphics card for 1440p with 4K capabilities
This build packs an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, which is built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, so you’ve got 4th-gen ray tracing cores, 5th-gen tensor cores, and new, faster GDDR7 VRAM. It features 16GB of GDDR7, 8,960 CUDA cores on a 256-bit bus. At 1440p, this card is very impressive, and can be used for high refresh rate gaming at ultra settings, and ray tracing with the help of DLSS and MFG. It can also be used for 4K gaming, hitting decent framerates in most titles, which, again, can be enhanced with DLSS and MFG at more demanding settings or when using ray tracing, for instance.
Intel Core i7-14700F processor for excellent hybrid usage
If you’re planning on using this PC for gaming, content creation, and productivity, then this Intel Core i7-14700F is a great way to go, and a good, affordable alternative to your typical Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is commonly found paired with the RTX 5070 Ti. Compared to the 7 9800X3D, this CPU has a much higher core and thread count, coming in at 20 cores (8P + 12E) and 28 threads. This makes it very well-suited to creative workloads in Premiere Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, and Blender, and also makes it a powerhouse for streamers and those running multiple background applications while gaming, too. For gaming, it has a 5.4GHz boost clock and 33MB L3 cache, whcih allow for high framerates with low frame latency, but, of course, the X3D alternative will have the edge in this department. An ideal amount of storage
This PC packs a 2TB SSD, which, nowadays, is a very good amount of storage to have. If you’re planning on building a robust gaming library and also want some room for larger files, such as 4K footage or various large PSDs, then 2TB is going to be ideal for you, as it’ll ensure you don’t run out of space anytime soon. It’s also good if you don’t fancy managing your storage all the time, which can become a little bit of a drag when you have a smaller 1TB SSD.
A load of RAM for smooth performance in creative applications and games
You’ve got 32GB of DDR5 in this build, which is a very good amount to have with this type of setup, which is primed for both gaming and demanding creative workloads. For gaming, it’s going to ensure that you’re not running into much microstuttering, especially with more demanding AAA titles, such as open-world games or simulators. For content creation, if you’re working on large projects and making edits, this amount of RAM is going to help keep things running super smooth and make the overall process feel snappy and responsive.
Things to consider
As mentioned, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5070 Ti gaming build is going to have the edge over this when it comes to gaming performance. That’s because these CPUs have a much higher 96MB L3 cache, which dramatically increases performance and lowers frame latency. In terms of pricing, they’re going to be more expensive, as they’re a more recently released CPU. That being said, they’re not that much more expensive and can be found hovering around $2,300 in most cases. My advice, if you’re interested, would be to look at brands like Yeyian or even stick with Stormcraft for the best prices. This Yeyian gaming PC is one of the most affordable models I could find on Newegg that fits the bill, and would be a good alternative to consider.
