Despite rumors initially pointing to a reveal happening today, a new report from Insider-Gaming points to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced getting its full reveal next week. But most importantly, the report claims that we have a release date to look forward to for the upcoming remake. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will reportedly launch on July 9, 2026.

This comes after Ubisoft reportedly held a private presentation for content creators and select members of the press today, ahead of next week’s full public reveal. It’s unfortunate, of course, that today’s reveal was seemingly postponed, but all signs are pointing to finally getting a proper look at this long-awaited remake.

Signs like the Ubisoft launcher leaking an image for the game earlier today, which initially had players thinking that we’d be getting a reveal at some point before the day ended. Obviously, that no longer seems to be the case, but it’s clear that the reveal is actually imminent.

A July release date is more than a little outside of the initial March 2026 window that had previously been reported (we are in April, after all), but at least it still seems to be the case that we’ll get to jump back into Edward Kenway’s boots before the end of the year.

Hopefully next week will also come with answers to the biggest questions that have surrounded the remake for months now, like whether Ubisoft did decide to cut the modern-day missions from the original game for this remake. Or if it’ll include a new set of missions and characters, or if we’ll get to see some of what was cut from the original game revamped for this new version.

What’ll be most interesting though is seeing how Ubisoft handles the remake overall. Years ago, chief executive officer Yves Guillemot promised that we’d be getting remakes of Assassin’s Creed games, and Black Flag Resynced will be the first in what will seemingly be a series of remakes. How this first game is handled will inform what we can expect for future remakes, and whether we should be excited in the way fans of the Resident Evil series know they can be excited for remakes of those classic games, or if this remake experiment is better left in the past.
