Fellow PC enthusiast here. I regularly follow Gamers Nexus and came across one of his videos going over how 7-segment debug codes have been a victim of product segmentation and can only be found on motherboards $400+.
I felt this same frustration today when I was looking for an AM5 board with a debug code. I like swapping things out frequently and when stuff doesn’t work, I want to know in detail what the problem is. The fact that there’s a $100+ gap between a board with a debug code and one that doesn’t just mind boggles me. Even though I bought used, there is still a large price difference over cheaper boards out there.
I completely understand motherboard signaling and manufacturing costs have gone up in general, but it’s frustrating how a helpful feature that costs a few dollars forces you to pay a lot more for other nonsense you don’t need.
