Today I show you the best new RPGs and Turn-Based Strategy Games releases in the last few days. In addition to these new game releases, we will take a look at a couple of demos as well as other things to consider checking out.
I personally will be working on testing the latest Heroes of Might & Magic (HOMM) title which comes out by the end of the month. However, for now I will focus on what is available today. As such, I have a number of titles for you that include JRPG-style titles, Tactical RPGs and other things that may be of interest.
People of Note
Developer: Iridium Studios
Release Date: 7 April, 2026
Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Switch 2
Steam Page

People of Note is one of April’s most exciting RPGs, putting the music front and center. With worlds and characters built around different musical styles, the game’s score changes along with your gameplay during combat, highlighting each party member’s taste when they’re making their move. The game is a feast for the eyes and ears, so check it out!
People of Note launched earlier this week, and it’s got an introductory sale on most platforms, letting you save 10% if you pick it up within the first two weeks of release. Considering that it starts at a very reasonable $24.99, that’s a nice extra deal to start the game’s run!
Fight Life: Vanguard
Developer: StartImpulse, Two Cakes Studio
Release Date: 10 April, 2026
Platform: PC, with a PS5 launch expected later.
Steam Page

If you prefer something a little darker and grittier, Fight Life: Vanguard puts you in command of a mercenary company in a fantasy world on the brink of oblivion. The story is more directed than in most mercenary sims, as your band of would-be heroes is the only thing standing in the face of eternal darkness. Can you turn a squad of raw recruits into champions worthy of the task put before them?
If you’ve had your eye on this enticing pixelated tactical RPG, now is the time to see how it turned out.
Tacticauldron (Demo)
Developer: Poisheesh
Release Date: 2027
Platform: PC
Steam Page

This quirky tactical battler shakes up the usual grid-based formula by adding on-the-fly crafting with a dash of inventory management.
You create effects on the battlefield by mixing ingredients in your cauldron, whipping up spells with whatever you have on hand. You’re unlikely to always have precisely what you need, so the odd substitute, and its side effects, will have to do!
The full game isn’t expected until sometime next year, but the free demo that launched this week serves as a fun proof-of-concept for Tacticauldron. If you’re the kind of player who likes to improvise and make do with what you have, you should get a lot of enjoyment out of this title.
Annulus
Developer: NIRVANA
Release Date: 8 April, 2026
Platform: PC, Android, iOS
Steam Page

Annulus feels like a dark, Lovecraftian Fire Emblem in a free-to-play package. It’s built around customization, letting you collect characters and equipment to develop your ideal squad, with the evolution mechanics that you’ve come to expect in mobile games. If you’re looking for a gacha game with a bit more strategy than just having the highest stats, this could be worth a look.
Annulus launched earlier this week for mobile and Steam, giving you some options to try it on your platform of choice.
MINOS
Developer: Artificer
Release Date: 9 April, 2026
Platform: PC
Steam Page

If you long for the days of Dungeon Keeper, Minos offers a mythology-inspired roguelite that could scratch that itch. As the mighty Minotaur, you’ll plan your Labyrinth, ensuring that adventurers get as lost as possible and wander into deadly traps. If any manage to survive, they’ll be so beaten and bloodied by their ordeal that they’ll be easy pickings for you… hopefully.
Minos launched earlier this week and is being offered as a bundle with another quirky roguelite, The King Is Watching, which just got its first major expansion!
Diorama Break (Demo)
Developer: Studio Massimo Gauthier
Release Date: TBA
Platform: PC
Steam Page

JRPGs have gone through a lot of deconstruction, but Diorama Break offers a new perspective by letting you, the player, converse directly with the fated hero.
You can give them advice and guidance or question their role as destined savior of the world, changing the way the story turns out. The game also looks to be a properly solid JRPG in its own right, with some classic pixel aesthetics and a grid-battle system reminiscent of Live A Live.
There’s no word on when we can expect the full game, but the free demo, available now on Steam, offers a look at what Diorama Break has in store for us.
EvoCreo 2
Developer: Ilmfinity Studios
Release Date: 6 April, 2026
Platform: PC, Android
Steam Page

In the wide world of games that seek to capture the magic of classic Pokemon, EvoCreo stands out for its wide menagerie of monsters and throwback style. The sequel more than doubles the scope of the original game, with over 300 critters to catch and some truly gorgeous pixel animation.
EvoCreo is available on both Steam and Android, and there’s a free demo as well. If you’re looking for a new but familiar take on old-school monster-training gameplay, be sure to check it out.
Wardrum (Demo)
Developer: Mopeful Games
Release Date: TBA
Platform: PC
Steam Page

Let’s close with a demo of one of the most interesting Tactical RPGs out there. Wardrum is a turn-based roguelite with a rhythmic “hook” and its new demo allows players to experience the first section, plus an entire biome.
Players are tasked with stopping the spread of corrupted rhythm magic using their Warband. Combat is primarily based on coordinating player action with the beat of a tribe’s wardrum to achieve the greatest results.
Wardrummer, Barbarian, Bowman, and Warrior are the party members players will manage as they explore the biome, collect trinkets, create Rhythm Chains, which may help them alter the pace of battle, fight a biome boss, and begin their next run.
