MINOT, ND — The Minot State baseball team lost 12-5 and 2-0 in a pair of NSIC baseball games on Saturday at Corbett Field.
The Beavers (13-21 overall, 8-16 NSIC) host the Golden Bears in the final game of the 3-game series at Corbett Field on Sunday at noon.
GAME 1 | Concordia-Saint Paul 12, Minot State 5
MINOT, ND — Junior Cowen Meyer put together a stellar showing at the plate Saturday, hitting two homers, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Concordia-Saint Paul Golden Bears 12-5.
Freshman Tanner Groseclose (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State. The southpaw went four innings, giving up five runs, one earned, on one hit, allowing five walks and striking out three. Junior Wyatt Anicker was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking none and striking out three.
Meyer went 2-for-4 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with three RBIs. Senior Oscar Pegg added to Meyer’s awesome power-hitting performance by going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Junior Vinnie Gates also chipped in for the Beavers, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Minot State scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run homer from Meyer.
The Beavers lost the lead they built in the third, but got back on the board in the sixth trailing 12-3. Minot State picked up a run on Pegg’s one-out solo home run off of junior Ollie Yuhas, which tightened the Golden Bears lead to 12-4.
Minot State held the Golden Bears off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 12-5 in the seventh. The Beavers picked up a run on Meyer’s two-out solo home run off Yuhas. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

MINOT, ND –The Minot State Beavers were not able to record a run against Concordia-Saint Paul pitcher sophomore Tyus Smith on Saturday despite totaling eight hits and were shut out 2-0 by the Golden Bears.
Sophomore Wyatt Toth (2-3) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing five walks and striking out seven. Senior Conner Meldrim was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 shutout innings, allowing one hit, with one walk and three strikeouts.
At the plate, the Beavers were led by senior Noah Madas, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a double. Junior Cowen Meyer compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-4. Senior Oscar Pegg also contributed for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.
