Polyphony has dipped into the vintage racing cars bin this week, and what they’ve pulled out is genuinely special.

Only twelve Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2s were built by Autodelta in the mid-1960s as factory racing cars, and the Zagato-bodied coupe scored class wins at events including Sebring, the Targa Florio, and the Nürburgring 1000 km. It’s not often we get to see an older race car headline a weekly time trial, and this one has the pedigree to justify the spotlight.

The setting suits the car. Autodrome Lago Maggiore’s full course winds through the rolling hills of northern Italy in the warm light of late afternoon, which feels appropriate for a machine that spent 1965 carving through European endurance events.

The TZ2 is light, communicative, and rewards precision over aggression, which should make for a satisfying combination at one of GT7’s longer, flowing road circuits.

Time Targets

The current world record sits at 2:11.269. Gold pace (within 3%) requires a 2:15.207, silver (5%) is set at 2:17.832, and bronze (10%) opens up at 2:24.395. Given the appeal of both the car and the venue, expect the leaderboard to get crowded quickly over the next two weeks.

Last Week’s Event Continues

The Toyota Crown Athlete G at Trial Mountain Reverse still has a week left on the clock. It’s a slower, more deliberate combination on Sports Hard tires with fixed settings and BOP applied, and the current world record stands at 2:11.425. Gold is within reach at 2:15.367, silver at 2:17.996, and bronze at 2:24.567. If you’ve been putting it off, this is the week to commit.

How to Enter

Online Time Trials are part of Sport Mode, which unlocks by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe. PS Plus is not required to participate. Posting a gold time (within 3% of the leader) pays 2,000,000 credits, silver (within 5%) pays 1,000,000, and bronze (within 10%) pays 250,000. New events arrive every Thursday, each running for two weeks, with the oldest event rotating out as the new one drops. The next refresh is scheduled for April 16, 2026.
