COLUMBUS, OH – In midweek action, the Ohio Dominican softball team welcomed non-conference opponent No. 7 University of Indianapolis to Panther Field in Columbus for a doubleheader. It wasn’t their day on the field, as the Panthers fell in both contests.

Game One (L, 6-2)

Freshman Alyvia Lawrentz got the start in game one, going all seven innings while striking out four Greyhounds and allowing 10 hits and six runs. Offensively, the Panthers recorded seven hits in the game.

The Greyhounds got on the board early with a double to left-center that brought in the lead runner. They added two more in the top of the third when their pitcher delivered a two-run home run for a 3-0 lead.

Ohio Dominican responded in the third inning when freshman catcher Reese Loveday singled to shortstop for an RBI, bringing in freshman Gianna Solinger. The Panthers kept the momentum going in the fourth, loading the bases before Olivia Congleton came in as a pinch hitter and singled to center field, scoring Avery Mueller, who had led off the inning with a single, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

Indianapolis added three more runs in the top of the fifth, securing the insurance they needed for a 6-2 win.

Game Two (L, 9-2)

In the second game, sophomore Emma Grau pitched a complete game, recording three strikeouts while allowing 13 hits and nine runs. Five Panthers recorded a hit in the contest.

The Greyhounds struck first again in the top of the second, scoring four runs on three hits. They added two more in the third with a pair of home runs.

Ohio Dominican answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. Loveday drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right field, and Mueller followed with an RBI single up the middle.

Indianapolis added one run in each of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to secure a 9-2 victory, marking their 39th win of the season.
