I was immediately bothered that the design, which is clearly trying to emulate the iconic opening, didn’t have “rifling” (the swirly bit in the barrel that stabilizes the bullet).

I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it’s meant to evoke light rays etc.

But no, they confirm twice in the official blog post that it’s supposed to be a callback to the iconic barrel in the films:

> while the barrel-inspired detailing reflects the themes of the game and how it feels to play it, as well as being a nod to one of pop culture’s most recognizable visual signatures.

How can you call it “recognizable” and not even get the lines right?
