The Nekonikon Punk Trilogy is now complete! Whew…it feels great to finally have the story out there.

I published book 1, back in Sept. 2024, managed to finish book 2 by August 2025, and just today I uploaded the final manuscript of book 3 to Amazon. I do not use AI for my writing or my art work!

When I first started writing it back in 2023, I knew the story I wanted to tell, but as I wrote, it ballooned as I fleshed out characters and set them on their courses. It was clear by the time I was half-way through that first draft, that it was gonna be a trilogy.

Nekonikon is named after a real place near Seaside Oregon, and the story is set about 85 years in the future. In the time between now and then, major tech companies decided they could do better than the government to solve the cost-of-living crisis, and they set up old-fashioned townships. People flock to these company towns for the promise of a safe place to live along with a low-paying job. Over time, these companies tire of regulations and taxes, and they secede in a movement called The Great Secession. This sparks a war with the US government, but ultimately the companies win and establish their townships as independent city-states.

After winning the war, the companies slowly start the "enshitification" process, slowly rolling back the rights of their denizens who are now stuck in these cities. Nekonikon is one such state, ruled by a triumvirate of three companies: Krelborn -weapons and power, Longyu- import/export, and Cogswell-Smythe- finances.

The story picks up roughly forty years after The Great Secession and follows the moral arc of a young Krelborn-aligned guard in training, Juan Fausto. He is nearing graduation, but the closer he gets to the "real world" the more he begins to question the morality of his world. Here is a link to a review of book 1 if you'd like to know more.

I'd love as many people to read it as possible. If anyone is interested in trying it out, I'd be happy to share a free copy of book 1 in exchange for signing up for my Substack. I promise I don't spam, but I do give regular updates and publish short stories and cyberpunk think pieces regularly.

If you'd like to have a free copy, please follow this link and I'll be in touch

If not, of course that's good too. I'm just happy I've finally got the story out there and wanted to share the news!
