WAYNE, Neb. – St. Cloud State Softball (27-11, 9-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) earned a split against Augustana on Saturday at the Wildcat Dome in Wayne, Nebraska. In the Huskies 20-7 game one win, sophomore catcher/infielder Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) tied the program record for home runs in a game with two and junior infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) tied the program record for walks in a game with five. The Vikings (16-17, 9-3 NSIC) took game two, 2-1.
 
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 20, AUGUSTANA 7
SCSU opened the game with back-to-back walks before Honeycutt hit her first home run of the day to give the Huskies an early 3-0 lead. The Huskies pushed their lead to 5-0 in the second when redshirt junior infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.) hit a two-RBI double to center field. Junior catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) hit the second SCSU home run of the day, a two-run shot, in the fourth inning to extend its lead to seven.
 
Augie used a six-run home half of the fourth to cut its deficit to one after a two-RBI double, an RBI-single and a three-run home run. The Huskies responded with two runs in the next half inning with one on a dropped third strike and the other on an RBI-single from Weiss. Honeycutt hit her second home run of the game to open the sixth inning, making the SCSU lead 10-6 before the Vikings opened the bottom of the sixth with a leadoff home run of their own.
 
The Huskies exploded for 10 runs in the top of the seventh to take a commanding 20-7 lead. After three of the first four batters of the inning drew walks, Honeycutt was walked to score a run. In the ensuing two at-bats, Frechette hit an RBI-single and redshirt sophomore utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.) hit a two-RBI single up the middle. Two batters later, junior outfielder Hannah Harms (Bartlett, Ill.) hit an RBI-single and two batters after that, Holmes was walked with two outs and the bases loaded to plate the Huskies 16th run of the game. In the next at-bat Weiss hit an RBI-single that ended up scoring two more runs after a throwing error by Augustana. Senior infielder Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa) put a bow on the Huskies inning with an RBI-single.

SCSU moved to 38-81 all-time against Augustana and 1-0 against the Vikings this season.
The Huskies moved to 15-4 in neutral site games this season.
SCSU recorded new single game season bests in runs (20), hits (16), RBIs (17), home runs (three – tie), walks (10) and at-bats (37).
Then Huskies scored 20+ runs for the first time since April 2, 2023, against Bemidji State. It was the most runs scored by an NSIC team since Northern State scored 20 against Valley City State on Feb. 8, 2025.
SCSU recorded 16+ hits for the first time since it had 16 on April 8, 2025, against Minnesota Duluth, 17+ RBIs for the first time since it had 19 against Black Hills State on Feb. 3, 2024, 3+ home runs for the first time since it had three on March 3, 2026 against Cedarville (Ohio) and 10+ walks for the first time since they drew 11 against Truman State on Feb. 22, 2025.
The Huskies allowed a season-high two home runs.
Honeycutt tied multiple players for the program record for home runs in a game with three and was one shy of tying the runs scored record. She recorded her seventh multi-hit game and fourth with 3+. It was her sixth multi-RBI game and team-leading second with five or more.
Frechette recorded her eighth multi-hit game of the season and first of 4+ hits. It was her seventh multi-RBI game which ranks second on the team.
Weiss posted her team leading 13th multi-hit game of the season and team leading fifth of 3+. She also recorded her team leading ninth multi-RBI game of the season and second with four or more.
Collins posted her third multi-hit game of the season and third multi-RBI game.
Holmes tied Megan Lehnen (vs. CSP, April 26, 2014) for the program record for walks in a game with five and was one shy of tying the runs scored record. She extended her on-base streak to 11 games.
Soule recorded her first career win.
Kunz earned her first career save after tossing 2.0 hitless innings to close the game.
Roe extended her on-base streak to 10 games.
Sophomore infielder Grace Dahmen (Jordan, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to a season-best nine games.
Harms pushed her on-base streak to a season-best six games.

GAME TWO: AUGUSTANA 2, ST. CLOUD STATE 1
Honeycutt hit her third home run of the day in the opening at-bat of the second inning to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. SCSU held on to its 1-0 lead until the home half of the sixth when the Vikings hit an RBI-double to tie the game and later a sacrifice fly to take a 2-1 lead over the Huskies. In the top of the seventh, SCSU was able to put two runners on with singles but were unable to bring the runners around to score, falling 2-1.
