There’s something inherently entertaining about being asked to hustle a luxury sedan around a circuit in Gran Turismo 7.

This week’s Online Time Trial puts you behind the wheel of the Toyota Crown Athlete G, a car that would look more at home in a Tokyo parking garage than carving through the elevation changes of Trial Mountain Circuit Reverse.

On BOP (M) settings with Sports Hard tires, the Crown is predictably soft and heavy through the corners, but that’s part of the charm. You’ll need to be precise with your braking points and patient with your inputs, because this car rewards smoothness over aggression.

Fun fact: you can run the Safety Car version of the Crown Athlete if you want to add some flair to your laps, and it’s actually faster, too. As discovered by GTPlanet user hyperspeed280, the base car has an open differential, while the Safety Car features a limited-slip differential (LSD). Despite the better hardware, the Safety Car has a slightly lower PP value, but it’s the car you’ll need to be using if you want to have a chance at setting a competitive time.

Time Targets

The world record currently sits at 2:11.949. Gold (3%) requires a 2:15.907, silver (5%) a 2:18.546, and bronze (10%) a 2:25.143. The Hard compound tires and the Crown’s considerable heft make Trial Mountain’s undulating layout genuinely tricky, so don’t be discouraged if those first few laps feel loose.

Continuing Event: Mazda Roadster Touring Car at Road Atlanta

Last week’s event pairing the Mazda Roadster Touring Car with Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Sports Soft tires continues for another week. This is a much more traditional racing combination, and the Roadster’s light weight and responsive handling make Road Atlanta’s fast, flowing sections a real pleasure. The world record has come down to 1:27.548, with gold at 1:30.174, silver at 1:31.925, and bronze at 1:36.302. If you haven’t taken a crack at this one yet, you still have until Thursday.

Accessing GT7 Online Time Trials

Online Time Trials are available through Sport Mode, which unlocks after completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Café. PlayStation Plus is not required. Gold finishes (within 3% of the top time) pay out 2 million credits, silver (within 5%) earns 1 million, and bronze (within 10%) nets 250,000. A new event goes live every Thursday, and each event runs for two weeks, with the oldest active event cycling out each week. The next new event arrives on April 9, 2026.
