SANTA BARBARA, CA – The UC Santa Barbara softball team prepares to host Hawai’i this weekend. The three-game series will get underway Friday, Apr. 3, at 12 pm followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 4 with the first game beginning at 12 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos got their sixth consecutive series win last week after defeating the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. The Gauchos dropped game one, but the Blue and Gold bounced back with two strong outings in game two and three, winning 10-3 and 9-0.
Game three’s dominance was highlighted by Giselle Mejia hitting a two-run shot in the first inning to set the tone. Jazzy Santos drove in three RBIs to go along with her two hits. Ainsley Waddell shut the Roadrunners out through five innings while she struck out four.
SCOUTING THE RAINBOW WAHINE
Hawaii is coming off a series sweep of CSUN. The Rainbow Wahine are 16-14 overall on the year. Jamie McGaughey leads the Hawaiian offensive charge, hitting .358 in 81 at-bats. She has five big flies on the year, along with her team leading 22 RBIs. She leads the Rainbow Warriors with 51 total bases on the season.
Millie Fidge leads the team in average, hitting a whopping .405. Milan Ah Yat has hit eight home runs on the year, leading her team. As a whole, the pitching staff for Hawaii has a 3.46 ERA. The two biggest arms for the Hawaiian staff are Hannah Pitts, who is 7-4 on the year with a 2.53 ERA in 74.2 innings. Taryn Irimata is right behind her with a 2.78 ERA through 73 innings; she has a record of 6-7 on the year.

The series will begin at 12 pm on Friday. Saturday, Apr. 4, there will be two games with first pitch at 12 p.m and 2:30 p.m. All games will be streamed on ESPN+ along with live stats to follow.
