Today is the one day of the year where you can’t trust anything you read on the internet even more than usual, especially when it comes to game developers.
We already saw Invincible VS tease ‘Thicc Omni-Man’ and other meme characters for April Fool’s Day, and Arc System Works wanted to get in on the action this year too.
The Guilty Gear Strive developers ‘revealed’ a new spin-off game themed around May.
This totally real game is called May’s Auto-Run Challenge, and as the name suggests, the gameplay involves the sky pirate running across a stage and jumping with her Totsugeki dolphin to collect stars.
A handful of screenshots were released for the obvious prank, but of course it doesn’t appear to actually be real.

The problem is, however, some fans end up wanting these April Fool’s games to actually exist including in this case.
May’s Auto-Run Challenge could actually be a fun little mini-game in Strive to unlock some collectibles and things outside of just randomly fishing them up.
We have seen in the past Capcom actually release April Fool’s games like Neco Drop and ‘2019: World President Challenges a STG’ featuring G though all we got this year was a performance update for Street Fighter 6.
I know this is just a 01/04 joke, but having more single-player content, even if it’s just a fun side-scrolling game like this, would be very much appreciated.

The wildest example, though, will probably always be Fighting EX Layer announced as a “prank” before developing into a full fighting game.
Guilty Gear fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on new content too at least.
Strive’s big Version 2.0 update is coming next week on April 9 alongside Jam Kuradoberi, who recently got her gameplay trailer showcased.
