Alex of Season 3 recently joined the Street Fighter 6 roster. He came packaged alongside a balance update that applied changes to every character.
Late last night, Capcom released a performance update to address several issues that were caused by that Alex compatibility patch. However, it’s important to note that this update was only intended for the Steam version of the game.
This update seemingly had nothing to do with the Alex lore revision patch that was said to be coming to Street Fighter 6. Supposedly, the lore changes will be addressing “confusion” regarding Alex and Patricia’s relationship before their marriage.
In another post that was dropped this morning, Capcom acknowledged that there are still some other issues that they are aware of. These will also be addressed at a later date.

“Following the update released on March 17, we have confirmed issues affecting the battle system and certain characters,” said Capcom on X.

One such issue is likely a bug that was specifically introduced with the Alex compatibility patch that involves the Drive Parry and Drive Rush actions. Keoma M. Pacheco’s post on X describes the problem.
I decided to take a look at the DR bug and…
1: Yeah, it wasn’t there before
2: If you Parry pretty much anything, your DR only comes out with reversal timing (first frame after “blockstun”, but not frame-perfect). Otherwise you’re locked out of DR for a while pic.twitter.com/3UThaqvCMo

After using a Drive Parry against an attack, it will reportedly only be possible to perform the Drive Rush with reversal timing. Should this window be missed, the player can be locked out of performing their Drive Rush for a duration.
According to Keoma M. Pacheco, this problem isn’t just isolated to one character and is affecting the entire “battle system,” which is likely what Capcom is referring to with its post.
It’s also noted that this doesn’t seem to affect using the Drive Parry against the Drive Impact. It’s only against other attacks that this lockout bug occurs.
Needless to say, we’ll be keeping an eye out for additional information about this upcoming update from Capcom. It probably won’t contain any notable balance adjustments, but it will be important nonetheless.
