The patch does not include the Alex story changes though

It’s been a few weeks already since the big Alex and balance update released for Street Fighter 6, but not everything went off without a hitch it seems.

Capcom has now released a new patch for Street Fighter 6 to try and address some of the performance issues made present in the game.

This comes after players on PC reported performance issues in Street Fighter 6 following the last update, and it appears those concerns were very much true / valid.

As such, the new patch only applies to the Steam version of the fighting game.

Before, users claimed that turning the Input Delay Reduction option off in-game could fix the slowdowns and frame drops, though, the trick didn’t work for everyone.

Despite rolling out the update, Capcom states this does not guarantee that stability will be fixed / improved for everyone on Steam.

They say the patch addresses the suspected cause of the problems, but it’s not said what that supposed cause actually was.

Other players have claimed that performance issue began before the Alex update, so it’s unclear if the new PC update could help them too.

This does not include the planned update to Alex’s story content, which was revealed to be coming to the game last week.

Alex’s plot development for Street Fighter 6 proved to be controversial by revealing the wrestler had married and impregnated Patricia. who many saw his adoptive sister and also strangely seemed to change their backstory by saying they were second cousins now too.

It’s not clear what exactly they’re going to change in the game beyond saying there will be adjustments to the text.

From what’s implied in the additional story episode released by the developers focused on Patricia’s dad, Tom, after the wedding, Capcom may be moving to make Alex and her being not raised closely together like siblings to make their relationship appear less questionable — while also probably removing the whole cousin line too.

Capcom hasn’t stated when players should expect the first story patch in fighting game history.

For the moment, it seems they focused more on trying to get the PC issues sorted out first.
