At the GDC product update, Unity announced that it will bring official Steam support. The engine will feature a native solution for Steam, Steam Deck, and Steam Machine, as shared by James Stone, Technical Director of Product for Platforms. Before, the developers had to bring their Unity-powered games to Valve’s gaming hub by themselves, but the new built-in platform toolkit will facilitate this workflow.
Apart from this, the company will introduce targeted enhancements to Unity’s Linux runtime to provide native performance increases and remove the need for developers to rely on Windows through Proton.
